First opened in 2020, Keiki Edgewater is a state-of-the-art service ideally located on Joondalup Drive next to Edgewater Train Station and open from 6am. Children aged 0-5 years enjoy specialised environments designed for open-ended play and learning, each with direct access to a beautiful central open-air garden. Unique spaces include sensory rooms, art studios, a central shared dining room and a huge all-weather undercover adventure playground for kindy aged children.

Keiki Edgewater is a state-of-the-art childcare and early learning centre located on Joondalup Drive next to Edgewater Train Station. It caters for children 0-5 years in specialised learning environments and with unique facilities for each age group, including:

Conveniently located next to Edgewater train station and open from 6am, it’s also perfect for local residents who commute by train to the city for work.
Play-Based Learning for All Age Groups
Our early learning centre in Edgewater encompasses all the features of a Keiki Early Learning school. These include purpose-built natural outdoor spaces designed for play-based learning, within secure and safe surrounds. The centre features a separate nursery for younger babies, a babies room for children who have begun walking, a toddler room and pre-kindy and kindy rooms. This allows us to specifically tailor our educational curriculum and activities to different age groups, needs and developmental abilities. All rooms enjoy direct access to dedicated outdoor play areas.
Our spaces are carefully designed to encourage child-led learning and discovery through play for children of all ages, based on their individual developmental stages and interests. Keiki Edgewater also incorporates our proven Preschool program for children aged three years and over. This program helps with the development of essential skills for a smooth transition into formal schooling.

Nursery & Babies
Our baby daycare caters to infants typically aged 4–24 months, ensuring a nurturing and secure environment essential for their growth. It embraces the Early Years Learning Framework, providing play-based learning tailored to each child’s unique interests, abilities and developmental needs. At Keiki Edgewater, we offer a dedicated Nursery room for children not yet walking, and an older Baby room for children aged 1-2 years who have begun to explore on their feet.

We focus on developing resilience, independence and emotional regulation through enriching activities like singing, reading and physical play. Our safe and engaging environment enhances self-help skills, preparing them for future learning.

For children aged 3–5 years, our pre-kindy promotes school readiness by developing key physical, emotional and social skills. We engage children within play-based learning environments, using activities that foster early literacy, numeracy and independence. Our Pre-Kindy room offers a rich educational program to children typically aged 3-4 years, while our Kindy room caters to older children who may already be attending school-based Kindy part time.
We follow a preschool program that cultivates foundational skills required for future education through play. The program introduces early literacy, in addition to mathematical and STEAM concepts. There is also emphasis on building emotional and social intelligence and physical skills through play.

Sue
Keiki Edgewater consists of a passionate, experienced and specialised team led by Centre Coordinator Sue, who has a wealth of experience since 2002 in early childhood. After spending seven years coordinating a 42-acre forest school in England, she is passionate about nature-based play and how it enriches children’s learning and development. Sue holds the UK equivalent of a Diploma of Children’s Services (ECEC), as well as a Diploma in Leadership and Management. She has worked at Keiki Edgewater since 2021.

Are Staff That Work In Childcare And Early Learning Qualified At Keiki Edgewater?
Yes, the educators at Keiki Early Learning are qualified and committed to providing high-quality care and education. All staff working at Keiki Edgewater hold, or are actively working towards, a Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care, with many having completed a Diploma or higher qualification. Additionally, our Early Childhood Teachers possess degrees from recognised universities or are working towards their Early Childhood Teaching qualification, ensuring a strong foundation in early childhood education.
All educators maintain a current Working With Children Check and complete regular training in areas such as child protection, food safety, safe sleep practices and first aid. These requirements help ensure a safe, supportive and professionally led environment for children.

At Keiki Edgewater, fees are charged per day, with the full day being $174.00.
This amount reflects the standard rate and does not take into account any reductions available through the Child Care Subsidy (CCS). How Does Drop-Off Work At The Early Childcare Centre In Edgewater?
At Keiki Edgewater, we work to ensure drop-offs are as smooth as possible. When you arrive, you’ll bring your child to their room and speak with their educators, who will support a happy and calm start to the day. Each room will follow a routine at drop off such as placing bags away, putting nappies into baskets or unpacking drink bottles for the trolley; children are encouraged to take part in these tasks, helping to build independence and confidence. Families are also welcome to spend a short time settling their child and sharing any important updates.
For added security, all our services use pin code entry systems to maintain a safe and secure environment for every child. You will be provided with your own unique pin code as part of the enrolment process, and you will use this each day to gain access to your service. You will also be required to sign your child in via our secure Xplor app each day.

What Should I Pack For My Child In Preparation For Attending The Edgewater Centre?
To help your child have a smooth and comfortable day at Keiki Edgewater, we ask you to pack a few key items in their bag. Bringing the right essentials ensures they’re prepared for play, rest, and everything in between.
- Spare Clothing: Accidents and messy play are part of the fun. Please pack at least one full change of clothes, including underwear and socks.
- Sun Protection: A wide-brimmed hat is required daily for outdoor play. We reapply sunscreen throughout the day.
- Drink Bottle: A refillable water bottle to keep your child hydrated throughout the day.
- Nappies and Wipes: If your child is still in nappies, please provide enough for the day, along with wipes.
- Bottles and Formula/Breast Milk: For babies, please bring the required amount of formula or breast milk per day, clearly labelled.
- Bed sheets: Your child will be gifted their very own set of Keiki bed sheets when they start care with us. We ask that you bring in these sheets each day after washing them at home, so your child has bedding to sleep on that smell familiar and comforting.
- Wet bag: You will also be supplied with a Keiki wet bag when starting care with us. Please pack this wet bag each day as any dirty or soiled clothing will be placed in here.

What Do We Provide At Our Early Learning Centre In Edgewater?
Our early learning services provide nutritious food to children throughout the day, including breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea, pus a late snack if needed. We also include sensitive formula sunscreen, nappy cream, wipes, 1x set of cot or bed sheets provided at enrolment, and all incursions and excursions planned as part of the educational program.

What Food Is Provided At Keiki Early Learning Edgewater?
At Keiki Edgewater, children enjoy a rotating seasonal menu inspired by the six Noongar seasons. Fresh, in-season ingredients are used to create nutritious and flavourful meals, all of which are prepared daily on site by our in-house chef. Menus are carefully planned to support children’s nutritional needs while still being enjoyable and appealing.
Our menus are continually refined by ongoing feedback from children and families, so we can make sure we’re serving meals that children genuinely enjoy, while giving them the energy and nourishment they need to thrive. The current menu is available to view at your Keiki service at any time. Can I Bring Food To The Keiki Edgewater Centre?
At Keiki Edgewater, we provide nutritious, thoughtfully planned meals prepared fresh each day by our in-house chef. All of our early learning services are allergy-aware, with strict food safety and nutrition policies in place to keep every child safe and well. For this reason, food from home cannot be brought into the service. If your child has any dietary requirements or allergies that may mean changes are required to their menu, just let your service management team know during orientation so we can ensure the right support is in place.

After School Care is not available at the Keiki Edgewater centre. However, this service is offered at a number of our other locations, including Keiki Shorehaven, Keiki Mindarie Primary and Keiki Tapping.
