Keiki Mindarie Keys Marks 21 Years in Time
Keiki Early Learning celebrated their 21st birthday on Thursday, 25th of July 2024 with a special concert and time capsule ceremony, attended by families, staff, owner Sam Morrell and local MP Tracey Roberts – Federal Member for Pearce.
After performing a concert for their audience, the kindy children at Keiki Mindarie Keys shared some of the things they love about Keiki and presented Ms Roberts with a commemorative book and big bunch of flowers. Guests then enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea together.
As part of the celebrations, Keiki created a time capsule that will be buried in the Mindarie Keys garden where it will be safely hidden for 9 years and opened when the service turns 30. The capsule contains special photos, messages from the children and interesting facts about today, offering a glimpse back in time for future children and staff at Keiki Mindarie Keys.
Owner Mrs Morrell, who is also a Mindarie local, says the centre’s success can be attributed to the high-quality, long-term staff and Keiki’s philosophy of continuous improvement to stay at the forefront of best practice early education and care.
“Over 21 years, I feel privileged to have provided high quality care and early education to thousands of children at Keiki Mindarie Keys. We have also been able to establish a team of long term, passionate educators – including our amazing Centre Coordinator Ruth who has been part of this service for more than ten years.
“In recent years, we have been part of a full circle – with new trainee and work experience staff coming through that we educated when they were children, and even a former enrolled child of Keiki Mindarie Keys returning as a mum, with her own young baby joining the service!”
Keiki Mindarie Keys has undergone many transformations over the years, with environments and equipment recently updated and the educational program reviewed regularly to ensure a high standard of developmentally appropriate learning is offered.
This includes a ‘secret’ nature garden rich with trees and plants, new nature play structures and calming indoor spaces that have been completely refurbished to create a modern yet homely aesthetic.
“We love looking for new ways that we can deliver the best quality education for the children in our care, and despite being 21 years old, Mindarie Keys offers state-of-the-art environments, equipment and resources,” says Mrs Morrell.
“Everything is carefully designed to spark curiosity, enhance children’s physical capabilities, and encourage learning through play.
“It’s a joy to be part of this community as both a resident and a business owner, and it is such a pleasure to see the children learn, grow confident and eventually graduate to school-based education each year,” said Mrs Morrell.
The family owned and operated group of childcare and outside school care services was first started in 2003 by sisters Sam Morrell and Angela Palmer, with a vision of providing high quality education and care. Keiki Early Learning has now grown to 9 childcare and outside school care centres in Perth’s Northern suburbs, located from Hamersley to Alkimos.
